Friends of Meols Park community group was formed in October 2007 in response to the decline of Meols Park and the removal of the children's play equipment, which had fallen into disrepair.  Over the following months the group held many fundraising events and applied, successfully, for funding to the extent that in July 2009 the new Park Play Area was opened to much acclaim.

Work continues now to add to the play equipment and make further changes to the Park to benefit the whole community.
